Digital Realty Trust started renovations on the building in 2000. It was originally built in 1912 and at one point housed the Chicago Manufacturing Division.
This library on one of the floors is one of the reasons why the building is a national historic landmark. Now a conference center, it has been rented out in the past for Playboy photo shoots.

This ashtray outside the building is one of the so-called low-hanging fruit items that buildings can do to get LEED points. It counts toward indoor air quality management.
